NDNU Hallmarks Reflection

The Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community, developed by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in collaboration with SND learning communities, are:

1. We proclaim by our lives even more than by our words that God is good.
2. We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person.
3. We educate for and act on behalf of justice and peace in the world.
4. We commit ourselves to community service.
5. We embrace the gift of diversity.
6. We create community among those with whom we work and with those we serve.
7. We develop holistic learning communities which educate for life.

    Notre Dame de Namur University’s founding sisters continued to send the message of God’s goodness into NDNU.  They paved the way for future generations of students like myself to create a place where we can learn and do good through God.  At NDNU, I'm blessed to share this wisdom to spread this added knowledge I have learned.  I proclaim that my life is even more than by our words that God is good.

    We must truly accept and acknowledge one another.  We are all unique, but our differences are special and are the reasons to bring us closer to each other.  Our dignity and sacredness should be honored as it is at NDNU.  The staff are helpful, kind, and always willing to help with open arms.

    At NDNU, I've been educated for and act on behalf of justice and peace in the world.  It's important to understand the world through various eyes.  In order to create change and comprehend what is happening, I must take the time to become more educated as it prepares myself to adapt to this ever changing world.  The instructors/professors at NDNU are professional and have learned so much from them that I will carry on into my career plus life and beyond.

   Community service is a great way to give back and learn more about the people, place, and our surroundings.  It's always such a nice feeling to be able to do things for others and especially instill that responsibility of guidance, support, and obtaining a memorable experience along the process like I have here at NDNU.

  Diversity has always been important to me as it is to NDNU.  Embracing the gift of diversity is being able to get to know more about not just individual people, but learning about different cultures, traditions, religions, and so much more.  Your able to look around campus and see people together no matter what race, ethnicity, nationality etc because that's what makes this university special.  All people coming together to learn, experience, and open opportunities for anyone and everyone.

  Building relationships at NDNU was something I will cherish.  Being able to work with awesome classmates, wonderful staff, and incredible professors is what makes this place so fun.  Its the feeling of knowing that you're not alone because you have so many people that understand and are trying to help each other.  NDNU builds character and cohesiveness.

  NDNU develops a holistic learning community that educates for life.  Everything is intertwined and connected as everything through this whole educational journey has strengthen my skills.  I will never forget what I learned and was able to accomplish at NDNU as it has instilled all this new added knowledge, unforgettable experiences, and opening doors that I never thought would open.  This gives me the best opportunity to do more in my life and excel.  I want to continue to accomplish more goals, achieve success not just in a professional aspect, but my overall life as well.  Thank you NDNU!
